Aym Design forayed into F&B restaurant design with our studio’s fresh take on the tropics with Don Ho — a social kitchen experience, located on iconic Keong Saik Road. Keong Saik Road has undergone a renaissance and evolved to become the hottest street in the local gastronomy scene, with Don Ho as its new kid on the block. At Don Ho, we took the design focus back to the simple pleasures of life — divine food and hearty conversations.

Translating the social concept into spatial planning was intrinsically linked to the experience curated at Don Ho. The restaurant interior design concept draws heavily on the Hawaiian legend, Don Ho; thus, the interiors called for a rich palate of lush, visually rich textures, and of course, exuding fun.

Hand-painted Pierre Frey wallpaper lines the walls, tropical plants adorn the ceilings, and copper accents add a layer of luxe to the interiors. Our team wanted to create a space where people could meet after work to enjoy a drink with friends and seamlessly transition into a casual dinner.

The open kitchen provides guests with an insight into the traditionally “behind the scenes” space and enhances the social nature of the venue. And let’s not forget Don Ho’s centerpiece — a long bar that features a lively herringbone tile, rich copper accents, and spills with fresh produce of pineapples, citrus and tropical florals.

Our concept for Don Ho Social Kitchen & Bar is all about the good times spent together amid an industrial tropical-inspired decor and pore over the innovative menu, featuring fusion dishes that blend east and west.
