Spanning two floors of a shophouse in Duxton Road , JAG houses an intimate dining space downstairs and a high-end cocktail bar called upstairs.
The design is minimal, authentic and refined. We tried to be sympathetic to the original shophouse whilst also bringing in subtle natural references that tie the space back to the French Alps, the inspiration and origin of many of the vegetables and herbs JAG uses in creating its outstanding dishes. These touch points are delicately layered through the use of different textures and materials throughout the space.
The original space had no sense of arrival, so our first task was to ensure we incorporated a proper entrance into the floor plan. The new lobby gave JAG the opportunity to greet their guests and lead them into the dining space. It created privacy and allowed non-dinners to be directed up to the bar without disturbing dinner guests
Ultimately, a restaurant’s interior helps set the tone and expectations of what will come. Therefore, it was essential for us to reflect the same attention to detail that goes into the food. Together this provides guests with an unforgettable experience.
